The Eastern Regional Station (ERS) of ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Kolkata participated in the 27th Sundarban Krishi O Loko Sanskriti Utsav held at Kultali, Canning block, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. The Mela was organized by Kultali Milan Tirtha Society Kultali, Canning (W. B.) from 20- 29 December, 2023. In the said Mela, an exhibition stall was put up by the Regional Station with banners and festoons, wherein various technologies and package of practices developed by the institute were showcased for benefit of the farmers and visitors.

The Mela also gave the regional station an opportunity to highlight its salient achievements and role played by the institute in uplifting the socio-economic conditions of landless and marginal farmers of the region, through implementation of various flagship programmes like DAPSC and TSP. During the occasion, various leaflets and handouts in vernacular language on different emerging and re-emerging diseases of livestock (rabies, tuberculosis, brucellosis, Peste des petits ruminants), vaccination schedules for cattle, sheep/goat, chicken and duck were also distributed to the farmers and visitors to create awareness among them. The questions raised by farmers in connection with health and management aspects of livestock were also duly addressed by the participating scientists. Further, the scientists and staff participating in the said Mela provided advisory services and tips to farmers to improve general health status of farm animals. The farmers and visitors who visited the stall were quite impressed with the exhibits.
