Central Island Agricultural Research Institute conducted an awareness programme on “National Surveillance Programme for Aquatic Animal Diseases (NSPAAD)” on 18thAugust, 2023 at Brindaban village, South Andaman.


Speaking on the occasion Smt. M.A. Naseem Banu, Pradhan, Brindaban Panchayat appreciated the efforts of ICAR-CIARI and also urged the farmers to reap maximum benefit out of the programme. Altogether, 30 farmers attended the awareness programme and participated in the interactive sessions covering the aspects on fish disease diagnosis and reporting system, disease management in aquatic animals, better management practices in aquaculture and demonstration on Report Fish Disease app. The queries raised by the farmers were also addressed by the Scientific team. The programme was conducted and coordinated by Dr. S.K. Zamir Ahmed, Dr. R. Kiruba Sankar, Dr. K. Saravanan, Dr. J. Praveenraj and Dr. D. Karunakaran under the overall guidance of Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.
