A team of Scientists from ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna of PRAYAS Group organized an Awareness-cum-Demonstration of Mushroom Cultivation on 26th February 2024 at Hatinada village, Baghmundi block, Ajodhya Hills, Purulia, West Bengal.
The main objective of Mushroom cultivation for Hatinada village was to create awareness among Tribal farmers specially women group to improve their livelihood. They were provided with hands on training of mushroom cultivation and were given an opportunity to perform the practices, moreover they were given mushroom spawn, and other inputs which may enhance their interests and ideas on the cultivation where they can learn by themselves in future. Dr Ajit Kumar Jha, Principal Scientist, FSRCHPR, Ranchi explains about the oyster mushroom cultivation by explaining each and every steps. Dr Bikash Sarkar, Principal Scientist and Dr P. K. Sundaram, Senior Scientist, ICAR RCER, Patna discussed about the economic importance of the mushroom lies primarily in its use as food for human consumption. There were 60 tribal women participants were present at the demonstration site during the programme.
