ICAR-Directorate of Floricultural Research, Pune conducted a Field Day on 23rd February 2024, Pune  the theme ‘Annual Flower Crops and Pollinator’s Conservation’.

Dr. K.V. Prasad, Director, ICAR-DFR, Pune, emphasized the importance of annual flowers and their role in farm productivity using bee pollination. Dr. Prasad further added that the farmers are focusing on emulating the floral calendar to increase productivity and conserve bee pollinators.

Over 152 species of flower-visiting insects have been observed in the pollinator landscape at ICAR-DFR, Pune. Besides farmers, many researchers working on crops and Agriculture officers of Maharashtra state participated in the program.

A total of 31 farmers, primarily pomegranate and other fruit growers from various villages, took part in this program and gained valuable insights and benefits.
