At the monthly training camp of PAU Kisan Club, agricultural scientists explained seed treatment and insect-pest management in rabi crops, weed management in rabi crops, low tunnel vegetable production and care of milch animals in winters. About 100 members of the club attended the camp that was held under the guidance of Programme Director Dr TS Riar, Additional Director Communication and Programme Associate Director Dr Kuldeep Singh, Head, Department of Extension Education. In the monthly training camp of the women’s wing of the club, as many as 52 rural women participated.

Dr Rupinder Kaur, Associate Director (Skill Development) and Coordinator of the club, promoted the consumption of homemade nutritious sweets instead of adulterated sweets being sold in the market during the festival season.

Dr Prerna Kapila, Technical Coordinator, shed light on the activities of the club. Mrs Kirandeep Kaur and Mrs Kuldeep Kaur, club members, demonstrated the making of gulab jamun, moti choor laddoo and salted snacks.

Meanwhile, the training camp was also organised for the Progressive Beekeepers Association (PBKA) in which 30 beekeepers participated. Experts dwelt upon honey bee management in winters, and honey marketing and packaging for festive season.

The resource persons from PAU included Dr Anureet Kaur Chandi, Dr Gulshan Mahajan, Dr Ruma Devi, Dr Ranjit Singh, Dr Amit Chaudhary and Dr Khushdeep Dharni.

Sardar Jagtar Singh, Secretary, PBKA, delivered a lecture on membership of association.

Mr Manpreet Singh Grewal, President of the club; Sardar JS Sohi, President of the PBKA; and Mrs Kanwaljit Kaur of women’s wing, proposed a vote of thanks and urged the farmers and the farm women to keep consulting PAU experts to enhance productivity and profitability. Mr Amandeep Cheema coordinated the camps.
