Training cum demonstration programmes on farm made fish feed preparation and mushroom cultivation was organised at ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar on 24 March 2023 and 26 March 2023. The training programme was organised to impart skill on the preparation of farm made fish feed and mushroom cultivation under NICRA-CGC funded project on “Gender Responsive Integrated Homestead Aqua-horticulture (GRIHA): a Sustainable Climate Resilient Approach Towards Livelihood Diversification’’. Eighteen farmers each from Sriramchandrapur Village, Satyabadi Block, Puri district and Thaila Village, Bhandaripokhri Block, Bhadrak District participated in the programme on 24 March 2023 and 26 March 2023, respectively. Dr. Mridula Devi, Director, ICAR-CIWA in her speech stressed upon the importance of integration of different components in the farm to achieve nutritional security of rural families. She also reiterated the importance of minimal processing and FSSAI certification of the minimally processed vegetables to ensure sustainable marketing of the farmers produce. Scientific discussion on the nutrient requirements of farmed fish and prospects of mushroom cultivation was also organised. The training had the objective of improving the skill of farm women in farm made fish feed preparation by using locally available ingredients This has implications for improved livelihoods, food and nutrition security, and climate change mitigation. Demonstration on mushroom cultivation was aimed at improving the skill of farm women as mushroom cultivation can contribute in the economical empowerment of women while tackling the issue of food security. Critical inputs like pre-kharif vegetable seeds and prophylactic medicines for fish were distributed to the farmers. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr Tanuja S, Dr Lipi Das and Dr Tania Seth.
