ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow, organised a Satellite Symposium on Fish Genetic Resource and Conservation jointly with ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore, Kolkata under the 13th Indian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum today. The event aimed to spotlight the critical role of aquatic genetic resources in sustainable development, conservation efforts, and the innovative approaches required to address contemporary challenges.

 

Dr. A. G. Ponniah, Former Director, ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture & NBFGR, Dr. Dhriti Banerjee, Director, Zoological Survey of India, Dr. J.K. Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries Science), Dr. U. K. Sarkar, Director, ICAR-NBFGR, Dr. B.K. Das, Director, ICAR- Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Dr. P. Krishnan, Director, Bay of Bengal Programme Inter-Governmental Organisation, and other officials were present during the programme.

Oral and poster presentations on various aspects of aquatic genetic resource management were performed during the event.
