Regional Research Centre, ICARCIFA, Vijayawada organized an Awareness Programmes on Scientific Fish Farming in Freshwater Aquaculture in Khanapuram, Khammam District, Telangana and Chinaparimi, Bapatla District, Andhra Pradesh on 07th October 2023 and 10th October 2023, respectively under Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP). Total 101 numbers of participants were registered to attend the programme in both the states.

Dr. Ramesh Rathod, Senior Scientist welcomed to the all the guests and participants. Chief Guest, Dr. P.V. Rangacharyulu, Retired Principal Scientist of CIFA addressed the gathering and graced the occasion. Dr. B.S. Giri, SIC, RRC in his address highlighted about the importance of SCSP programme in AP and Telangana for the benefits of fishermen and farmers. Dr. Ramesh Rathod explained about the socioeconomic benefits and livelihood opportunities by adoption of scientific aquaculture practices and also explained about recent advances in carp culture. Dr. Ajit Chaudhari, Scientist informed that the integrated fish farming will be highly beneficial to the farmers to enhance the fish production in sustainable manner. P.Murali, President, Surya Chandra Fish Production Organization, Telangana and Shri. P. Jaipal, Secretary, Fishermen society, Chinaparimi praised CIFA’s effort to sensitize the fishermen and encouragement to the farmers for entrepreneurship development in freshwater aquaculture. The necessary inputs (Seed, Feed, Crates and fishing nets) for fish farming were distributed the beneficiaries on this occasion.
