As per the current placement season, the students of School of Business Studies (SBS), College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), have been offered big pay packages by the reputed business companies. A number of business organizations such as Reliance Retail, HDFC Bank Ltd., Trident Group, IPL Biologicals and Bunge India Ltd. have already offered permanent placements to the students of MBA and MBA (Agri Business), who passed out in August 2023.

Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, and Dr PK Chhuneja, Dean, Postgraduate Studies, hailed the efforts of the Placement Cell and the SBS in developing the desired corporate skill-sets to enable the students to shine and grab the best packages in the highly competitive era.

Dr Shammi Kapur, Dean, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, and Dr Nirmal Singh Jaura, Director Students’ Welfare, congratulated the selected students and appreciated the placement efforts. The faculty of SBS guided and motivated the students by conducting mock interviews and pre- placement sessions by eminent industrialists. This has helped the students in strong summer internship placements in HDFC Bank, Nirmal Bang Securities, Verka, etc., they added.

Dr Khushdeep Dharni, Incharge of Placement SBS and Associate Director Placement, PAU, informed that Trident Group has offered a pay package of Rs 18 lakh per annum to the students from MBA (AB). Placement drive for the MBA/MBA(AB) was started in November 2022, said Dr Dharni, who advised all the students to work on their soft skills and equip themselves to tackle the challenges of the corporate world. As on date, about 50 per cent of MBA/MBA(AB) students have been placed, he told, while adding that in reputed companies, the selected students have been offered an average annual pay package of about Rs 7.20 lakh.

Dr Ramandeep Singh, Director, School of Business Studies, PAU congratulated the students for bagging jobs with good salary packages. He emphasized the need to make the students industry-ready by ensuring better fit between academia and industry requirements.

Dr Sukhmani, Convener of Management Science Association, has been instrumental in inculcating personality traits and industry know-how along with business trends by organising lecture series, field trips, industrial visits, interaction with practitioners, sports activities, cultural activities, etc.

Dr Babita Kumar, Professor of SBS, played a key role in conducting and maintaining strong alumni linkages by organising alumni meet at the college as well as SBS level. She told that the post graduate students are very competent and are being trained by the PAU on regular basis.
