The Department of Agronomy, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a training programme on “Weed Management in Wheat” at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Faridkot. Twenty farmers from different villages of Faridkot participated in the training programme that was held in collaboration with Farm Advisory Service Centre, Faridkot. The training programme was organized under SCSP component of the All India Coordinated Research Project on Weed Management.

Dr MS Bhullar, Head, Department of Agronomy, apprised the farmers of different weed management practices to be used for effective weed management in wheat under variable paddy residue management scenario.
Dr Amit Kaul, Extension Agronomist, delivered a lecture on improved agronomic practices for successful raising of wheat crop.

Dr Fatehjit Singh Sekhon, District Extension Specialist, Agronomy, spoke on improved spray technology for getting best efficacy from herbicides.

Dr Manpreet Singh, Agronomist, discussed surface seeding of wheat and its role in weed management, and other benefits of the technology.

Dr RK Singh, Prof of Agricultural Engineering, explained different methods of crop residue management. The critical inputs for seed treatment, and management of grass and broadleaf weeds in wheat were also distributed among farmers. An open discussion was held in which farmers’ queries were answered to their satisfaction.
