The Department of Microbiology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized one-day training on “Mushroom Cultivation and Vinegar Production” at Halwara, Ludhiana under ICAR-1 for strengthening and development of higher education in India. A total of 20 trainees benefited from this training programme.

Dr Keshani, Extension Scientist (Microbiology), demonstrated naturally brewed vinegar production from different fruits and sugarcane crop, and also explained winter varieties of mushroom.

The participants were provided with brewed vinegar bottles, water testing kit, wheat biofertilizer and ready to harvest mushroom compost bags. Participants showed enthusiastic response for learning these technologies.

Dr Pradeep Kumar Chhuneja, Dean, Postgraduate Studies; Dr Shammi Kapoor, Dean, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities; and Dr Urmila Gupta Phutela, Principal Scientist (REE)-cum-Head Department of Microbiology, appreciated the efforts of the scientist and the department.
