Pursuing the words of Elie Wiesel, a Romanion-American writer, it is hard not to believe that “Every moment is a new beginning.” With these pearls of wisdom in mind, an orientation programme was organized for MBA and MBA(AB) students of 2023-25 batch on 4th September, 2023, by the School of Business Studies(SBS), PAU, Ludhiana. With the objective of appraising the students about rules and regulations of the university and SBS, the event commenced with a warm and cordial welcome speech by Dr. Ramandeep Singh, Director, SBS, PAU.

Dr. Ramandeep introduced the students to various endeavors of PAU, like lab-to-land programme, Society for Advancement of Academics, Sports and Cultural Activities (SAASCA), and Management Science Association (MSA). He also sensitized the students about the importance of having a high emotional quotient so that building good relationships comes easy to students and they are well-versed with the feeling of empathy. He also guided students towards making a sizable societal contribution, because as a responsible part of society it becomes imperative to give back to it. Then he introduced each and every faculty member to the students to make them aware of the able and accomplished staff of SBS. He also enlightened the students about how PAU trained Agripreneurship having local brands. He then shared his views on the significance and perks of being consistent in life. Guiding the students on learning from their failures and analyzing their faults, The students then introduced themselves, by sharing their educational qualifications, their hobbies and their diverse areas of interest.

In order to assure students about the quality of education of the institution and aligning them with the kind of opportunities they might have after they complete their degree, two alumni lectures were organized and Mr. Vikram Sidhu and his wife Mrs. Parneet Sidhu shared their entrepreneurship journey with the students, emphasizing on the fact that it is necessary to keep your eyes open for all the opportunities, and starting with small steps and making it big will polish your skills. Mrs. Ravinder Kaur working with Google at California, USA shared her experience as a Management alumni from SBS,PAU and some much needed tips on developing a good sense of self-awareness. Considering the 2 years in PAU as training ground, she told students how the learnings prepare them for their struggles ahead. She also pressed upon the need for students to find their own motivation, understand their strengths and weaknesses, identify the opportunities that come their way, ask right questions, develop the skill of empathy by being a good listener, and become good leaders by practicing everything themselves.

Dr. Gagandeep Banga and Dr. Mohit Gupta, both working as professors at SBS, shared semester rules with the students. The details about the advisory system in PAU were shared by the retired professor of SBS, Dr. Yash Paul Sachdeva. Then Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, professor, SBS, addressed the students with the need, importance and benefits of personality development. The details about the research system in PAU and extension and placement activities in PAU were shared by Dr. Babita Kumar and Dr. Khushdeep Dharni respectively, both working as professors at SBS. Dr. Babita along with Dr. Rakesh Rathore, Assistant Professor, SBS, told the students about Management Science Association (MSA) and Ludhiana Management Association (LMA) activities. The details about SAASCA activities and anti-ragging rules were shared by Dr. Sukhmani, Assistant Professor, SBS. The details about summer training activities and infrastructure at PAU and SBS were shared by Dr. Navdeep Aggarwal and Dr. L.M. Kathuria respectively, both professors at SBS. Dr. Ramandeep Singh in the capacity of President sports at COBS&H, and Dr. Sukhbir Singh, Secretary sports, COBSH enlightened students about the various sports activities and sports infrastructure at PAU. The orientation programme was Compere and nicely concluded by Dr.Sarishma Sharma.
