The Department of Microbiology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), in collaboration with Microbiologists Society of India, Ludhiana Unit organized a rangoli competition on the theme ‘Microbiology for Health.’ A total of 12 undergraduate and postgraduate students of the College of Basic Sciences and Humanities participated in the competition, held under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The competition received enthusiastic response and displayed the creative abilities and innovation of the students relating to mushrooms, beverages, vinegars, etc.

Dr Kiran Bains, Professor of Food and Nutrition, Dr Devinder Kaur Kocher, Professor (Zoology) and Dr Keshani, Extension Scientist (Microbiology), were the judges of the competition. First and second prizes were bagged by Ms Chahak Jain, Ph.D Biochemistry and Ms Anandeta Malhotra, Integrated M.Sc Microbiology, respectively.

Dr Shammi Kapoor, Dean, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, and Dr GS Kocher, Principal Microbiologist-cum-Head, Department of Microbiology as well as President, MBSI, Punjab Unit, congratulated the winners and encouraged the students to participate in such competitions for instilling self-confidence.
