Krishi Vigyan Kendra Moga, played host to an educational tour for 52 students from Government Senior Secondary School, Kishanpura Kalan, on November 22, 2023. Led by Dr Prerna Thakur, Assistant Professor in Vegetable Science, the visit commenced with a warm welcome emphasizing the pivotal role such experiences play in nurturing young minds.

Dr Thakur delivered an insightful lecture, emphasizing the significance and management of Kitchen Gardens and Fruit Nutrition Gardens at the household level, emphasizing familial nutritional security.

Dr Amandeep Singh Brar, the Associate Director of KVK, Moga, engaged the students, shedding light on various initiatives like training programs, awareness camps, On Farm Trials, and seed production undertaken for the farming community’s welfare in the district. He also highlighted KVK’s efforts in raising awareness among farmers, school, and college students to discourage the burning of paddy residue. Additionally, Dr Brar encouraged the students to consider various entrance programs for further education at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.

The tour included visits to several demonstration units, including the Bee Keeping Unit, Oil Expeller Unit, Mushroom Unit, Fruit Nutrition Garden, Kitchen Garden, Roof-Top Garden, and Crop Demonstration Unit, providing practical insight into these agricultural practices.

Mrs Khushpreet Kaur, the coordinator from GSSS, Kishanpura, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the KVK faculty for orchestrating such an enlightening program.

Concluding the visit, Dr Prerna Thakur extended a vote of thanks to the visiting students and staff from GSSS, Kishanpura Kalan, Moga, for their participation and enthusiasm.
