The Diet Counseling Cell of the Department of Food and Nutrition, organized Nutrition Quiz on 22 October 2023 the World Food Day to promote understanding of nutritional needs and healthy diets. The Quiz was organized by the students of B.Sc. (Hons) Nutrition and Dietetics under the able guidance of their mentors Dr Shruti Jain, Dt Dhara Jain, Ms Timmy Singla and Kanchandeep. Twelve students from College of Community Science participated in the same and were split into four teams, namely Power Proteins, Cool Carbs, Witty Vitamins and Fantastic Fats, each having three participants. The Quiz Masters for this competition were Ms Afreen and Mehak deep Kaur.

Dr Kiranjot Sidhu, Dean, College of Community Science, applauded the students and the organizing team for their efforts. She also congratulated the winning teams. She emphasized that such activities required a logical mind coupled with reasoning; and encouraged learning of the subject matter and logical reasoning.

Dr Kiran Grover, Head, Department of Food and Nutrition, informed that World Food Day – 2023 focused on the link between food and water with a designated theme of “Water is Life, Water is Food, Leave no One Behind.” We should build sustainable and regular access to nutritious food and safe water for all to achieve the goal of zero hunger and combat malnutrition, she stressed.

The first prize was awarded to the contestants comprising Siya, Kulwinder and Ajuni representing team Fantastic Fats and the second prize went to Harmanjot, Rumani and Sukhneet from the team Witty Vitamins. The audience also participated with great enthusiasm and zeal.
