The Department of Food and Nutrition, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), in association with Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (PAMETI),organized on October 20, 2023  a three-day skill oriented training programme on “Bakery Products” for the rural women. A total of 27 participants from Ludhiana attended this training, held under centrally sponsored government scheme of Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY).

Dr Kiran Grover, Head, Department of Food and Nutrition, motivated the trainees to implement the knowledge and skills acquired during the training in their ventures and assured all help in their future endeavors.

Dr Sonika Sharma, Professor, Food and Nutrition, made the trainees aware of food safety, packaging, labeling and marketing of the products.

Dr Poonam Bakhetia and Dr Shikha Mahajan, In-charge of Experiential Learning Unit, Department of Food and Nutrition, demonstrated the making of mouth watering bakery treats including breads, cakes, muffins, doughnuts and cookies. The experts imparted scientific knowledge in the field and guided the trainees through every step of process during practical sessions.

The training also included an interactive session with a successful university trained entrepreneur Mrs Manjit Kaur, Dusky Tarts, Ludhiana, on different icing techniques of cakes for value addition. The participants wholeheartedly appreciated the programme and shared their positive feedback.
