The Organic Agricultural Society of India (OASI)

The OASI was launched on 2nd July, 2010 and registered under the Society Registration Act. The Society was established to provide a common platform for the organic agriculture stakeholders of the country and elsewhere with a view to exchange and share the experiences and knowledge and to strengthen the organic agriculture movement. This society is the first of its kind in the country wherein scientists, students, farmers, societies, NGOs and corporate world have joined hands to promote natural and organic farming by developing a strong interactive linkage among the stakeholders. The Society envisages to encourage the involvement of more and more people, third party certification system, availability and supply of organic inputs, technological gaps, participatory guarantee system, linkage mechanism and expansion of this movement particularly among the small and marginal farmers. The society has organized three major events on natural and organic farming in the year 2011, 2014 and 2019 in the form of National Symposium-cum-Brainstorming Workshop, National Seminar and Conference, respectively.

CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSKHPKV), Palampur

The University established on 1st November, 1978, is an Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) accredited institution. The CSKHPKV has been given the mandate for imparting education in agriculture and other allied branches of learning, research and undertaking extension of such sciences, especially to the rural people of Himachal Pradesh. Organic Farming programmes to undertake research and develop human resource in the subject was initiated in 2002 at CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya. In 2006, Center on Organic Farming in Hill Agriculture was established under Niche Area of Excellence programme by the ICAR, New Delhi which was later on upgraded into the Department of Organic Agriculture in 2009. During 2017-18, Natural Farming was launched as a flagship programme of the state to create and disseminate the knowledge on natural farming and the department was renamed as Department of Organic Agriculture & Natural Farming in January 2018.
