Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Hoshiarpur, observed World Soil Day at Burobari village, Mahilpur block, emphasizing the significance of soil testing for agricultural success.

Dr Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training) at KVK Hoshiarpur, led the event with an overview of the day’s importance and insights into ongoing extension activities benefitting local farmers. Dr Bons stressed the pivotal role of soil testing in fertilizer application, urging farmers to adopt this practice for improved yields.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Ajaib Singh, Assistant Professor (Agril .Engg.), KVK Hoshiarpur, highlighted the importance of implementing recommended technologies from PAU, Ludhiana, to enhance profitability in farming. He encouraged farmers to utilize KVK’s soil testing facilities for informed fertilizer usage and soil health enhancement.

Smt Sunita Rani, Programme Assistant (Lab Technician), elucidated the soil sample collection process and how to interpret soil testing reports. As part of the event, soil health cards generated from previous soil sample tests conducted at KVK Hoshiarpur’s lab were distributed to the farmers present, further empowering them with crucial information.
