Field Day on High Density Planting system in mango was organized on June 13, 2024 at ICAR-Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture, Rehmankhera, Lucknow. The purpose of Field day was to create awareness among the mango growers for canopy management, irrigation and nutrient scheduling, pre-harvest fruit bagging and major pest and diseases management, grading and packaging of fruits of Dashehari, Amrapali and Arunika mango. In his inaugural address, Sh. Vijai Bahadur Dwivedi, Director, Horticulture, Govt of Uttar Pradesh highlighted the importance of high density planting system with improved production technologies in mango for better yield and quality and advised the mango growers to avail govt. Schemes for quality production. Dr T. Damodaran, Director, CISH underlined the initiatives of the Institute in developing new varieties of mango, improved production technology for higher yield and quality of mango. Dr Kundan Kishore, Head, Crop Production highlighted the importance of canopy management for maintaining small stature plant under HDP for proper bearing. The impact of bagging on fruit was demonstrated by the quality of mango. Production technologies such as drip irrigation, nutrient management, canopy management, bagging and pest management were demonstrated during the field visit.
