A Workshop was organized by Dr S. K. Shukla, Principal Scientist and Pl of the Project at the Committee Room of ICAR-CISH Rehmankhera on 19-7-2023 at 2:30 pm. Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma and Dr. Vikramjit from CSIR-NBRI partipated in the workshop. First of all, Dr. SK Shukla highlighted about importance of intercropping turmeric in mango orchards which not only grows well under partial shade of mango but also gives additional income to the farmers. Dr. Maneesh Mishra highlighted the success story of growing turmeric in mango orchards under Farmer FIRST project. He also apprised the farmers of the value chain established by farmers group for marketing. Dr. SK Sharma and Dr. Vikramjit highlighted the importance and quality of turmeric variety Kesari besides emphasizing on the quality parameters of turmeric like curcumin, leaf oil extraction and ensured that they would facilitate in the sale provided quality test of produce is done at NBRI. Seed rhizomes were distributed to each farmer along with polder on turmeric package of practices. Each farmer received 20 kg seed of turmeric variety Kesari and an memorandum was signed. About 16 farmers from Unnao, Sitapur and Malihabad participated in the workshop. In the end, Dr. SK Shukla proposed formal vote of thanks.
