Content: DAATTC-ARS, Tandur organized one day off campus farmer’s training program on” Integrated Crop Management” in High Density Planting System in Cotton under special project on cotton, ICAR-CICR titled “Targeting technologies to agro-ecological zones-large scale demonstration of best practices to enhance cotton productivity” under NFSM 2023 at Rythuvedika in Saidhupally (vil), Parigi (Mandal), Vikarabad district on 27.10.2023. Dr. B. Venkatesh (YP-II) welcomes the farmers & guests later Mr. T. Laxman, Coordinator, DAATTC, Tandur explained about the objectives of the Project & briefed the gathering about the activities taken up under HDPS cotton in pudur and Parigi divisions of Vikarabad district. Dr. C. Sudharani, Principal Scientist & Head, ARS, Tandur explained about suitable soils (Light chelka soils) for high density, to escape from labour shortage farmers should go with mechanical picking of cotton in HDPS and also briefed about weed management practices in HDPS cotton.

Dr. K. Vanisree, Senior Scientist (Entomology), Maize Research Station, Rajendranagar, given overview on the sucking pest management in HDPS cotton and also how farmers can escape from pink bollworm attack by HDPS cotton. Dr. P. Revathi, Senior Scientist (Agronomy), Water Technology Center, Rajendranagar, explained about the precise water and nutrient management in HDPS cotton for optimum yields. Dr. T. Rajeswar Reddy, Scientist (Plant pathology) explained about different diseases attack in cotton and suitable chemical and integrated management practices at correct time for higher yields in HDPS. Smt. C. Yamuna, Scientist (Plant Pathology), DAATTC, Tandur, showed way of installation of Pheromone traps in fields and it’s role in identification of pest incidence in HDPS cotton. Rasi Seeds Territory Sales Manager, Sri. Nageswar Rao briefed about the varieties and hybrids characters suitable for HDPS cotton. Smt. Sowbhagya Lami Kumari, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Parigi, Division explained about seed rate and plant population numerical terms in HDPS cotton compared to normal method of sowing. Chief guest Gopal Reddy, District Agriculture Officer urged farmers need to know about HDPS cotton under present situations. In this regard pheromone traps were also distributed for the farmers. After the interaction session, conducted felicitation ceremony to the guest faculty who participated in the training program. Finally Smt. C. Yamuna, Scientist, DAATTC, Tandur gave the Vote of Thanks to the farmers, Scientist, Agriculture department officers and print & Electronic media for the successful implementation of the training program. After that lunch followed.
