Palampur 27 May. The quality seed production programme at CSK H.P. Agriculture University has got a national award.
Prof H.K.Chaudhary, Vice-Chancellor told that under All India Coordinated Research Project on Seed (Crops), the quality seed production in the Department of Seed Science and Technology has been awarded the prestigious Best Performance Centre Award 2022-23. This national award was conferred under the Quality Seed Production Component and Dr R. K. Kapila, Nodal Officer (Seed) received the award from Deputy Director General, Indian Council of Agriculture Research.
Prof Chaudhary said that award among 38 State Agricultural Universities, where this project is running, amply proves the quality seed production program of the University. On an annual basis, the university is producing more the 1000 quintal of breeder and 500 quintal of foundation seed of high yielding varieties of field and vegetable crops apart from truthfully labelled seed forming the foundational rock bed for food security of the region.
The Vice-Chancellor said that the University is thankful to the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Indian Institute of Seed Science for recognizing and acknowledging immense contribution of the University in seed sector.
