Under the Praali Parbandhan Chetna Yatra, KrishiVigyan Kendra, Fatehgarh Sahib organized a village level camp on paddy residue management at village Naraingarh on 13.10.2023. About 50 farmers from village Naraingarh participated in the camp. In the camp Dr. Ajay Kumar, Assistant Professor (Soil Science) warned about the loss of nutrients in the soil after burning paddy straw and also highlighted the importance of soil testing. Dr. Vikas Garg, Veterinary Officer (Amloh) discussed about feed management for better animal health in dairy animals. Dr Arvind Preet Kaur, Assistant Professor (Horticulture) sensitized the farmers about the efficient utilization of paddy straw in cultivation of fruits, vegetables and button mushroom cultivation. Dr. Vipan Kumar Rampal, Associate Director (Training), emphasized on efficient management of crop residues to protect the environment. He advised to adopt recommended technologies for paddy straw management. He discussed in detail about various machines like happy seeder, smart seeder, surface seeder, mulcher, baler etc. for efficient management of paddy straw. He also informed the farmers about various precautions while cultivating the wheat crop planted with Happy Seeder. Finally, the scientists answered farmers’ queries and also distributed necessary publications on crop residue management and machinery.
