A two-day seminar sponsored by Bameti, Patna on better production in fruit orchards amid climate change for extension workers and progressive farmers concluded at Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, on Tuesday. A total of 106 extension workers and progressive farmers from 38 districts of Bihar participated 100 percent in this two-day seminar-cum-training program. On this occasion, Dr. R. K. Sohane, Director of Extension Education, Dr. Mizanul Haque, Registrar-cum-Director of Administration, Dr. Fiza Ahmed, Director of Seed and Field, Dr. R. N. Singh, Co-Director of Extension Education, Dr. Abhay Mankar, Deputy Director of Training, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, PRO, Bihar Agricultural University Sabour, along with Horticulture (Fruit Scientist) Dr. Kumari Karuna and Dr Pawan Kumar etc were present. The forum was moderated on this occasion by Dr. Pawan Kumar, Junior Scientist, Horticulture (Fruit).


In his address, Dr. R. K. Sohane added on the importance of fruit production and orchard management in the changing climate and said that farmers should plant more and more fruit trees, this will increase your income and reduce the impact of climate change on fruit trees. Dr. Fiza Ahmed appealed to the present trainees to plant more and more fruit trees and plant new gardens in view of climate change.
Dr. Mizanul Haque also addressed the farmers and extension workers on this occasion.
Dr. R. N. Singh, Joint Director, Extension Education, while addressing the farmers and extension workers present in his address, said that the organization of this seminar in accordance with the demand of the time, which can get more benefits from fruit trees in accordance with climate change, as it has tolerance compared to food grains crops. It is quite high, so it can be obtained more by planting such fruit trees.
Before this, the farmers and extension workers present shared their feedback and experience related to this seminar. A farmer from Lakhisarai district shared his experience of natural farming.


In the technical session on the first day, Dr. Deepak Nayak, Principal Scientist, Central Fruit Research Institute, Malda, delivered his lecture to the participants on Global Warming, Climate Change and Horticulture: Impact, Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies followed by rootstocks in mitigating the effects of climate change. Dr. Fiza Ahmed shared the relevant information among the participants in detail. Dr. Ruby Rani shared the practices and knowledge of coconut and palm tree plants which are climate resilient crops for the future. Phenological studies in fruit crops: a biological indicator of climate change, the role of fruit trees in carbon sequestration, new generation plant growth regulators: mitigating the effects of climate change in fruit crops, effects of climate change on crop diseases The impact of climate change and its effect on fruit crop pests etc. was explained by scientists in detail.
Finally, certificates were distributed to all the trainees collectively by the officials and scientists of the university and the vote of thanks was done by Dr. Abhay Mankar, Deputy Director of Training.
