21 August 2024. Under the Carrot Grass Awareness Week and Training Program in the University, a program was organized in village Parma, Block Haldwani District – Nainital, in which while addressing the farmers, Project Officer Dr. S. P. Singh highlighted the damages caused by carrot grass and its management. The farmers told that we are aware about carrot grass and are also managing it at our level and our animals do not eat this grass because they know that eating this grass causes disease. But its proper management is not being done because still some farmers do not manage it properly, due to which this plant grows again, yet it has been eradicated to a large extent in this area. On which the measures for its complete eradication were explained in detail by the scientists of the weed research project. Leaflets related to this were also distributed to the farmers. Dr. Tej Pratap, Professor, gave detailed information to the farmers about the damage caused by weeds in crops and their proper control and suggested that weedicides should be purchased only from authorized sellers of good companies, so that the right herbicide can be used. Use flat fan or flat jet (boom) nozzle for spraying herbicides so that weeds can be controlled properly by herbicides.

About 110 farmers including Bhuvanchandra Arya, Gaurav Choubey, Gopal Joshi, Rajesh Oli, Kailash Joshi participated in the program. Other project workers, field assistants Mr. Hansraj Yadav, Mr. Vishal Vikram Singh and Dharmendra Kumar (SRF) and DPA Rajiv Kumar were present. In the end, the farmers expressed their commitment to completely control carrot grass. In the end, Dr. Tej Pratap proposed a vote of thanks to everyone for the efforts being made by the farmers to control carrot grass and other weeds.
