Two days Goat Health Camp cum Awareness Programme on “Selection of different breeds of Goat, Breeding Management, and Disease Management of Goats” was conducted from 12th to 13th September 2024 IN Chhatarpur, Tarahasi and Panki Blocks of Palamu District, Jharkhand. A total of 63 farmers participated in each day. DrS. K. Upadhyay, Veterinary officer,Palamu District, Jharkhand, interacted with the local farmers and discussed the scope
of goat rearing in Jharkhand, scientific management of goats, management of different goat and local marketing opportunities. Dr Rakesh Kumar, Scientist, Division of Livestock & Fishery Management, ICAR-RCER, Patna, discussed the selection of different elite breeds of goat, breeding management, feed management and benefits of supplementation of vitamins and minerals for goat.

He also emphasized timely deworming, vaccination and routine check-ups,which lowered the mortality and morbidity rate, thereby increasing the growth and body weight of the kids. He collected blood samples from the goat and took their physical measurement for research purposes. On this occasion, different veterinary medicines, mineral mixtures, and calcium supplements for goats were also distributed among all the participants, and their use and benefits were described to them. During this program, Mr. Abhimanyu Kumar, AI worker; Mr. Pravez Alam, AI worker and local livestock enumerators actively participated in making this event successful. The goat health camp cum awareness program wrapped up with an interactive meeting with the local farmers.
