An interactive meeting on sustainable water management was held today at ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata, graced by the presence of Dr. Alok K. Sikka, Country Representative – India and Bangladesh, International Water Management Institute (IWMI). The meeting reinforced the shared vision of ICAR and IWMI to address critical challenges in agriculture and water management, ensuring innovation and sustainability for a resilient future. During his address, Dr. Sikka outlined the work plan for the ICAR-IWMI research partnership, focusing on enhancing water productivity in agriculture, managing water-related disaster risks, and capacity building. He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to advance sustainable water management practices and foster transformative research in agriculture and water systems. Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata, eloquently shared insights into the diverse agroecologies of Zone-V and the remarkable milestones of KVKs. He emphasized strengthening agricultural and livestock systems against climate change while highlighting ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata’s transformative role in redefining KVKs as pillars of resilience and innovation.The programme was coordinated by Dr. P.P. Pal and Dr. S.K. Mondal, Principal Scientists of the Institute.
