TEC ICAR-IVRI Pune in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jalgaon and State Animal Husbandry Department organized one-day training on “ntegrated Livestock Farming for Livelihood Improvement” at Chinchgavhan Fata, Jalgaon District (Maharashtra) under SCSP programme on 28th November 2023. Mr Kiran Mandwade, Subject Matter Specialist from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jalgaon welcomed the guests and participants, and informed about the SCSP programme and its objectives for the livelihood improvement of resource poor SC farmers through integrated livestock farming. Dr Amol Bhalerao, Scientist, TEC Pune, in his address informed about the mandate and activities of IVRI Pune Centre. Others present on the occasion were Mr. Dnyaneshwar Ramchandra Pawar, Block Technology Manager of ATMA, Mr. Aakash Pradip Patil, Master trainer for Organic farming, Mrs. Suchitra Rajendra Patil from Hirkani Mahila Mandal, Chalisgaon.

The training programme started with the session on water harvesting for integrated livestock farming by Mrs. Suchitra Rajendra Patil from Hirkani Mahila Mandal, Chalisgaon. Mrs. Suchitra highlighted the need of water conservation to beat the heat stress and droughts. She also shared her experiences to promote profitable integration of livestock with agriculture. Thereafter, Mr. Dnyaneshwar, Ramchandra Pawar, Block Technology Manager of ATMA delivered lecture on various aspects of integrated farming to support the livelihood of Scheduled Caste communities. He, in addition, spoke about the various state government schemes and initiatives to harness the integrated farming with livestock rearing.

Afterwards, highly informative session was conducted by Mr Kiran Mandwade, Subject Matter Specialist (Animal and Poultry Science) from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jalgaon on scientific methods of goat farming as well as integrated farming techniques with goats. He detailed the breeds of goats, their feeding, and also the disease management. Further, he spread awareness about the cultivation of fodders for enhancing the income through integrated livestock farming in Jalgaon district. (Mr. Dnyaneshwar Ramchandra Pawar, BTM of ATMA addressing the farmers) Later on, Dr Amol Bhalerao, Scientist, TEC Pune, delivered session on possibilities of entrepreneurship development in rural areas by adopting an Integrated Livestock Farming. He suggested use of low-cost animal feed and food processing units for livelihood improvement. He urged Scheduled Caste farmers to form FPOs / FPCs to strengthen their livelihood base through collective actions. Certificates were distributed to the participant after completion of the training. The programme was compered by Dr Mr Kiran Mandwade and training session ended with formal vote of thanks. The training programme was coordinated by Dr Amol Bhalerao, Scientist, TEC Pune and Mr Kiran Mandwade.
