Students unlocked their hidden talent in collage making, creative writing, cartooning, rangoli, photography, and quiz competitions on the second day of the Inter-College Youth Festival at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. They demonstrated their aesthetic abilities on the topics “Still Life” and “Mother and Child” in collage making competition as well as photography skills on the topic “Life and Shadow.”
The Vice-Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, while inaugurating the fest on Wednesday, hailed the gaiety and gusto as well as the competitive spirit of the youths for the participation in a wide range of items. The first day showcased the acumen and aptitude of students in poetic recitation and haas rass, poster making, clay modelling, elocution and extempore items.
The students of five constituent colleges, namely College of Agriculture (COA), College of Horticulture and Forestry (COHF), College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (COAET), College of Basic Sciences and Humanities (COBSH) and College of Community Science (COCS); two outstation institutes comprising Institutes of Agriculture (IOA) at Gurdaspur and Bathinda; and one outstation college including College of Agriculture (COA), Ballowal Saunkhri are participating in the youth festival.
The chief guest of the evening session Dr MIS Gill, Dean, College of Horticulture and Forestry, observed, “Youth fest provides a platform to the intellectual and creative minds to nurture their ingenious abilities and instil self-confidence.” “It is a gateway to the literary and artistic world,” he added.
Dr Nirmal Singh Jaura, Director Students’ Welfare, said that PAU youth fests have produced renowned artistes who have done marvels at the national and international levels.
