According to the guidelines of Director Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sri Muktsar Sahib, a village level awareness camp on proper management of paddy straw was organized at village Gobind Nagri on 11th September, 2024, in which the village About 100 intelligent farmer heroes participated. During this camp Dr. Karamjit Sharma, Associate Director (Training), K.V.K. Shri Muktsar Sahib enlightened the farmers about the negative effects of stubble burning and shared information with the farmers about various methods of proper management of stubble. He said that this year, KVK will take care of the stubble. This village has been adopted by Shri Muktsar Sahib and the office will provide full support to the farmers in this regard. In the meantime, he took care of the stubble at KVK. Also mentioned various activities done by Shri Muktsar Sahib. During this camp Dr. Vivek Kumar, Assistant Professor (Crop Science) shared detailed information about successful cultivation of wheat in stubble fields. He gave information about various machines recommended by the university for stubble management and encouraged the farmers to use them. Dr. Manjit Kaur, Assistant Professor (Soil Science) informed the farmers about the improvement of soil health and increase in crop production finance with proper management of stubble. Mentioning the benefits of stubble conservation in the fields, he said that it improves the physical properties of the land and also reduces the impact of bad water on the crop. Dr. Sukhjinder Singh, Assistant Professor (Fruit Science) motivated the farmers to cultivate fruits and vegetables while explaining the importance of fruits and vegetables in the diet for human health. Dr. Vivek Sharma, Assistant Professor (Animal Science) apprised the farmers about livestock diseases and their prevention while imparting information about good diet for good milk production. During the camp, Dr. Gurwinder Singh, Assistant Professor (Extension Education) thanked the farmers who came to the camp and encouraged them to join Punjab Agricultural University and acquire knowledge for scientific farming through Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Farmers participating in the camp asked a lot of questions regarding stubble management and other agricultural issues and were answered on the spot by the experts.
