Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Amritsar and Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) organized an awareness and training program for farmers on 31.07.2024, on Wednesday, taking the initiative to increase energy efficiency and conservation at ground level. On this occasion Dr. Associate Director of Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Bikramjit Singh, inspired the use of renewable energy in agriculture and households. He elaborated on various methods of saving energy and labor to control the changes in the environment and the continuous increase of greenhouse gas. Mr. Rahul, Subject Matter Expert, Bureau of Energy Efficiency shared information regarding various subsidy schemes for energy conservation. He encouraged the use of proper and efficient pipes, mulching to save water, drip irrigation etc. to save energy at small scale industries, agriculture and household level. Program Coordinator Mr. Karan Kandhari shared detailed information regarding proper use of household electrical appliances and saving energy at household level. Dr. Rajan Bhatt, Associate Professor, Soil Science gave detailed information on various water saving techniques in paddy. He explained the importance of drip irrigation method in agriculture and the saving of water through this method. On this occasion, the services provided by PEDA under this energy saving mission were discussed in detail. This campaign of PEDA is also being conducted in other districts of the state so that maximum number of farmers can benefit from it. Around 80 farmers and agriculture related beneficiaries benefited from this programme.
