The Farm Advisory Service Centre (FASC) Kapurthala organized a Farmers’ Training Camp cum “Clean and Green Drive” in the PAU-adopted village of Bibri. The event, focusing on the significance of fruit plantations for human health and environmental sustainability, saw the participation of around 300 farmers. The village Sarpanch, Mr Jasbir Singh Thind, was the chief guest for the occasion.

Dr Pardeep Kumar, Incharge cum Senior Extension Scientist (SM), encouraged the villagers to plant more fruit trees to ensure nutritional and ecological security. He introduced the slogan “Each One, Plant & Rear One,” emphasizing the collective responsibility towards enhancing green cover and promoting sustainability.

During the event, approximately 300 fruit plants, including mango, jamun, guava, phalsa, pear, anjeer, amla, peach, and Kagji lemon, were planted strategically in the village, including the government school and common lands. The participating farmers and farm women pledged to extend the “Mission Clean and Green Punjab” initiative to other parts of the village and neighbouring areas by planting and nurturing more trees.

Among the notable participants were Scout Manjinder Singh and progressive farmers such as Khazan Singh, Ranjit Singh, Darshan Singh Dhanju, Jasvir Singh, Dalbir Singh Chandi, Jagir Singh, Narinder Singh, Charanjit Kaur, Simrat Kaur, Baljinder Kaur, and Lakhwinder Kaur.
