Under the leadership of Director Extension Education, PAU Ludhiana, Farm Advisory Service Center Sangrur organized a village level camp at village Phagguwala on  8.11.2024 management of various fertilizers containing phosphorus and crop residues in the fields. More than 25 farmers participated in the camp. Apart from DAP fertilizer, various alternatives for phosphorus such as Single Super Phosphate (SSP), Triple Super Phosphate (TSP), NPK (12:32:16) etc. can be found depending on the amount of phosphorus in their fertilizers.

Dr. Ashok Kumar, District Extension Expert (Soil Science) said that three bags of SSP or one bag of TSP or 1.5 bags (12:32:16) give phosphorus equal to one bag of DAP. In case of SSP and TSP, farmers have to apply 20 kg additional urea per acre. He also emphasized on the use of wheat consortium bio-fertilizer as seed treatment. Consortium bacterial culture for wheat is enriched with nitrogen-fixing and phosphorus solubilizing bacteria and plant growth promoter which enhances plant growth and makes phosphorus present in the soil soluble.

Farmers were motivated to manage paddy stubble in the field with machines like Happy Seeder, Super Seeder, Smart Seeder and low cost surface seeder for wheat sowing. PAU literature, gram seeds and mineral mixture, bypass fat and pashu chaat were exhibited and sold.
