Eligibility — who can join

NMNF does not enrol individual farmers directly — the unit of enrolment, assistance and certification is the Gram Panchayat-level cluster of ~125 farmers covering ~50 hectaresof contiguous land, with a minimum 1-hectare per-farmer commitment, a Lead Resource Person, a paired Krishi Sakhi and at least one Bio-Input Resource Centre mapped at approval. Smaller clusters may be permitted in hilly / tribal terrain at the State Nodal Agency's discretion. The four pillars of natural-farming practice

NMNF agronomy is anchored on four canonical low-cost, cattle-based practices:

  • Beejamrit: pre-sowing seed treatment with a cow-dung / cow-urine / lime / soil microbial culture, applied to seed or planting material to protect against soil and seed-borne pathogens and to inoculate the seed with beneficial microbes.

  • Acchadana (mulching): covering the soil with crop residues, live cover crops and biomass to suppress weeds, conserve moisture, regulate soil temperature and continuously feed soil organisms.

Bio-Input Resource Centres (BRCs) and Krishi Sakhi extension

A Bio-Input Resource Centre (BRC) is a community-managed micro-enterprise that produces and supplies the key natural-farming bio-inputs — Jeevamrit, Ghan-Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, neem astra, agni astra, brahma astra and similar preparations — to cluster farmers at affordable prices.
