Privacy Policy

AgriBot (“we”, “our”, “us”) operates https://agri.bot/. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using AgriBot you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information. Your name, email, and a hashed password — never plain text.
  • Profile details. Optional bio, location, website, and a public-profile toggle that you control.
  • Newsletter signups. Email addresses submitted through footer or contact forms, used solely to deliver the newsletter you requested.
  • Contact submissions. Messages sent through /contact-us are stored so we can respond.
  • Comments. Stored alongside your display name and shown publicly — see section 4.
  • Saved articles. Bookmarks on /saved are stored against your account; removing one deletes that record.
  • Server logs. IP addresses, user-agent strings, and request paths for security and abuse prevention. Logs are rotated.

2. How we use information

  • To create and authenticate your account.
  • To deliver the newsletter and respond to messages you send us.
  • To display your comments and saved-article state where you expect them.
  • To monitor and protect the service against abuse.
  • To improve content discovery (e.g. popular and related articles).

We do not sell your personal information and do not share it with advertisers.

3. Cookies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies — primarily a signed session cookie that keeps you logged in. We do not currently set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we add analytics in future we will update this policy.

4. Comments are public

Comments are visible to all visitors, signed in or not, along with the display name on your account. Please don’t include personal details in a comment that you would not want to be public. You can ask us to remove a comment by emailing [email protected].

5. Newsletter and unsubscribe

Every newsletter email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and our messages set the standard List-Unsubscribe headers so most mail clients show a built-in unsubscribe button. You can also unsubscribe at /unsubscribe. Once unsubscribed we stop sending newsletter emails to that address but keep the record so we can honour the opt-out.

6. Third-party services we use

We rely on a small set of providers and disclose them by category:

  • Cloud hosting and storage for the application and editorially managed media.
  • Email delivery for newsletters and account/transactional email.
  • AI tooling for editorial workflows — third-party AI services may help our editors clean up and tag articles aggregated from public sources. These tools operate on article text we ingest, not on your personal information or comments.

We do not currently process card payments. If we enable paid subscriptions in future, payment details will be handled by a regulated payment processor — we will never see or store your full card number.

7. Third-party content and links

AgriBot aggregates articles from public government and academic sources. When you click an outbound link you leave our site and become subject to that destination’s privacy practices.

8. Data retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. Comments and saved articles persist until you remove them or close your account. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact submissions are retained for up to 24 months unless an active conversation requires longer.

9. Your rights

You can request a copy, correction, or deletion of the personal information we hold by emailing [email protected]; we respond within 30 days. You can also delete your account at any time from /account; deletion removes your profile and unsubscribes the associated email from the newsletter.

10. Security

We use TLS in transit, hashed credentials at rest, and least-privilege access for backend systems. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and will notify affected users of any breach affecting personal data.

11. Children

AgriBot is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact [email protected].

12. Changes and contact

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, announced on the site or via the newsletter. Questions can be sent to [email protected] or via /contact-us.
