Millet Awareness Campaign was organized at Kollur village of Kotapally Mandal as a part of International Year of Millets 2023 celebration. Dr. T.V. Prasad, Principal Scientist (Entomology) & Nodal Officer briefed about the various activities undertaken under SCSP programme. Dr. K.S. Reddy, Principal Scientist (SWC) highlighted about the importance of crop diversification and water use from the earthen dams in rabi and Dr. K. Sreedevi Shankar explained about nutri millet kits and nutritional security. Later, Dr. AGK Reddy explained about the importance of vegetable seed kits for ensuring nutritional security followed by Dr Amarender Reddy explained the importance of millets and its economic benefits. During the programme, the Chief Guest, Dr. V. K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA urged the farmers to take up millet production by growing different type of millet crops which require less water and less prone to biotic stresses. Later, he has distributed Nutri Millet kits to the women farmers of Kollur village. A total of 160 farmers attended the programme and the event ended with a vote of thanks by the village Sarpanch.
