Overview
Horticultural College and Research Institute, Coimbatore of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, (TNAU) in association with Society for Promotion of Horticultural Science and Technology (SOPHOST), HCARI, Coimbatore is all set to announce the international conference on “Futuristic Horticulture” (ICFH24) that is scheduled to be held on 14 & 15 Nov 2024 at Horticultural College and Research Institute (HC & RI), TNAU, Coimbatore. The conference will be organised in hybrid mode for the participants outside the country.

Horticultural College and Research Institute, TNAU, research is vested with the Dean (Horticulture), Coimbatore-At a glance HCARI, TNAU, Coimbatore.

With an unparalleled vision and with dynamic programmes Horticultural College and Research Institute, TNAU, Coimbatore is reaching the global domains in the arena of research, education, extension and entrepreneurship. Recently, TNAU has secured 5th place according to National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), 2023 in India. The horticulture education through undergraduate programmes viz., B.Sc. (Hons) in Horticulture both in English and Tamil medium are under the administrative ambit of the Faculty Dean (Horticulture), HCARI, TNAU, Coimbatore and the post graduate programmes in M.Sc., and Ph.D., are ako being offered with specialization in Fruit Science, Vegetable Science, Spices and Plantation crops, Floriculture & Landscaping and Medicinal & Aromatic crops at faculty of Horticulture, HC&RI, TNAU, Coimbatore.
From the research purview, hither to many varieties and hybrids have been released for the betterment of farming community from this college (Fruits 45 Nos, Vegetables-127 Nos,s Spices and Plantation Crops-34 Nos., Flower t Crops -18 Nos, and Medicinal & Aromatic Crops-8 Nos,) along with improved Hi-Tech production technologies and the technical lead in .

The International Conference on Futuristic Horticulture: Challenges and Strategies (ICFH 24) promises to be a groundbreaking event, delving into the cutting-edge advancements and crucial issues shaping the future of horticulture. With eight key themes encompassing a diverse range of topics, ICFH 24 offers a comprehensive exploration of the opportunities and challenges in the field of Horticulture.

The two days conference will bring the Scientists from India and from global Universities, Researchers, Academicians, Nutritionists, Engineers, policy makers, Banking Sectors, Government bodies, entrepreneurs and Industrialists working in precision horticulture, from India and abroad to present their work and discuss on futuristic Horticulture.
Parallel Sessions have been planned for the lead speakers and for oral research presentations. The lead presentation and research abstracts will be compiled and released as souvenir and book of abstracts respectively by SOPHOST.
Objectives
The two days international conference aims to articulate the research deliberations and discussion on futuristic horticulture with the following objectives,
1. To identify the research gaps and to accelerate R&D issues in precision horticulture.
To develop new insight in the latest state of art technologies in packaging and mechanization
3. To connect the researchers and policy makers in bringing new perspective of activities in precision horticulture towards many fold increase in yield, nutritional security and to develop more startups and entrepreneurs.
Call for oral presentations and abstract submission The Conference will cover kay note addresses by renowned lead speakers, with selected oral and poster presentations. The lead speakers from countries outside India will deliver their research findings through in-person as well as in hybrid mode (online) and in-person presentation is mandatory for the participants from India.
