ICAR-NBPGR RS, Phagli Shimla organized one day Farmer’s interaction Programme on “Strengthening Backyard Gardens for Conserving Plant Genetics Resources” under the SCSP scheme on 10th Oct. 2023 at Rampur Keonthal Panchay at of Block Totu District Shimla HP. A total 350 Farmers form Bagi, Dhamun, Rampur Keonthal Panchayats participated in this program. Dr. Gyandera Pratap Singh Director, ICAR- NBPGR, New Delhi was the Chief Guest and Dr. Brajesh Singh Director, ICAR-CPRI, Shimla was Guest of Honor. At the outset, Dr. Mohar Singh Principal Scientist & OIC of ICAR-NBPGR RS Shimla welcomed the Chief guest and guest of honor with mementoes & Sh. Dayal Singh, Technical Officer ICAR NBPGR Shimla welcomed other dignitaries. Dr. Mohar Singh also welcomed all the farmers who participated in this programme. Dr. S.K. Kaushik Principal Scientist & Nodal Officer SCSP component, ICAR- NBPGR, New Delhi, Dr. P. K. Singh , Principal Scientist & Head ICAR-NBPGR New Delhi, Dr. D.P. Walia, Head ICAR-IARI RS Shimla delivered a brief remarks on this programme . This was followed by the speech by Chief Guest in his speech he stressed on the role of PGR in agriculture. Dr. Aarti Shukla, Scientist and Dr. Anurag Sharma Scientist KVK Kandaghat Solan and Dr. Dinesh Kumar Head Biochemistry Dept. ICAR-CPRI Shimla also graced the occasion and interacted with the farmers. There after a demonstration on uses of drones in the agriculture and horticulture crops was performed by KVK Kandaghat Solan. This was followed by the distribution of inputs to all farmers participated in the programme. The Programme was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mohar Singh, Whole programme was anchored by Dr. Pradeep Kumar ICAR-NBPGR, Shimla.
