An ‘Awareness-cum-training program on climate-resilient agriculture was organized today at the Government Higher Secondary School, Nunsar, Patan, Jabalpur as part of the NICRA project. In this programme study materials were distributed to poor students of 11th and 12th-class students of Scheduled-Caste farming community.
Dr. Shobha Sondhia, Principal Scientist PI of the NICRA Project, discussed the impact of climate change on our daily life, crops, weeds and entire eco-system. She talked about the important role of students in India’s future and hoped that the study materials provided would aid their success in upcoming competitive exams. Career advice after 12th was also provided to the students.
Dr JS Mishra, Director, talked more about the Scheduled-caste sub-plan (SCSP) and Government of India’s initiatives to help the farmers under this programme. He further highlighted the importance of the study materials given to the SC students for securing their future dream career. Total 70 Scheduled-caste students from 26 villages of Patan locality attended the programme. Dr Deepak Pawar and Dr D. Sreekanth coordinated the programme.
