A meeting was held on March 24, 2023 between the Directors of ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cattle, Meerut, ICAR Central Institute for Research on Goats, Mathura, and officials of Annasaheb Foundation (ASF) for Agro and Social Development in the presence of Dr. R. S. Paroda, former Secretary of DARE and DG ICAR, Dr. B. N. Tripathi, DDG (Animal Science), Dr. P. K. Rout, ADG (AP & B), and Shri Pankaj Kumar, Director, Animal Science Division, and Dr Sushil Kumar, PS, ICAR-CIRC.
Dr. Umesh Singh, Director, ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cattle, Meerut, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Annasaheb Foundation (ASF), Mumbai, for the improvement of Gaolao cattle in its original breeding tract while Dr. Manish Kumar Chatli, Director, ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Goats, Mathura, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Zalawadi goat. Shri A. Shinde, Chief Operating Officer, and Shri Kiran Shrikant Patwardhan, CEO, Annasaheb Foundation, also participated in the programme. It was decided that ICAR institutes will provide technical support for genetic improvement of Gaolao cattle and Zalawadi goats, while ASF will coordinate the programme for genetic improvement, value addition, product development and marketing with the help of self-hr prelp groups and farmeoducer organizations (FPOs). The meeting also discussed important aspects of production and reproductive management of indigenous breeds.
