Capacity building program on ICAR-IIHR technologies was organized for farmers of BR Hills and Surrounding taluks of Chamarajanagara dist as part of TSP program on 30.11.2024 at B. R. Hills in collaboration with Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra of B. R. Hills of Chamarajanagara district of Karnataka. About 104 Tribal farmers from B.R. Hills, HD Kote and Narsipura Taluks of Chamarajanagar dist participated in the programme.
Dr. Tusar Kanti Behera, Director, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru inaugurated the program. He emphasized the need for adopting ICAR-IIHR technologies by utilizing the scientific expertise. Dr. Sudarshan Joint Secretary of Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra of B. R. Hills acknowledged the efforts of ICAR-IIHR and urged the farmers for effective utilization of different initiatives of ICAR-IIHR. Dr. Sumangala H.P. Principal Scientist of Division of Flower and Medicinal Crops and Dr.T.H. Singh Principal Scientist and Nodal Officer Tribal Sub plan, ICAR-IIHR, Bangalore briefed about the importance of ICAR-IIHR developed Flower and Medicinal Crops, Vegetable Crops and other important technologies suitable for BR Hills and surrounding area of Chamarajanagara District. The inputs like Marigold and China aster, vegetable seeds, Arka Microbial Consortia, Banana Special and Vegetable Special were distributed to the identified tribal beneficiaries. This program was coordinated by Dr. Sumangala H.P. and Dr. T. H. Singh.
