An awareness seminar to prevent stubble burning was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, at Government Ripudaman College, Nabha on November 7, 2024. On this occasion, speech and poetry writing competitions were organized for students on non-burning of stubble. The main speaker of the seminar, Dr. Hardeep Singh Sabhikhi, Deputy Director (Training), KVK, Patiala, highlighted the services provided by his center to the farmers and made the students aware of the harm caused by stubble burning.
Dr. Sabhikhi also gave them the message of daily consumption of honey for a healthy life. Dr. Gurpreet Singh Sidhu, Assistant Professor (Crop Science), KVK, Patiala, explained in detail to the students about the various techniques adopted for stubble management and also informed them about the necessary changes in agricultural methods to save the environment as per the need of the hour. Dr. Rajni Goyal, Professor (Food Science), KVK, Patiala shared information about the harm caused by junk food with the students and also told about the importance of processing techniques for value addition of agricultural products.
This seminar was organized under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Vinita Rani, Government Ripudaman College Nabha and she motivated the students to adopt the information given by the experts in their lives. To encourage the winning students of these competitions, honorable mentions were also given. Finally, Professor Swaranjit Kaur, Head of the Botany Department of the college and in-charge of the Eco Club, thanked the scientists who came and assured the college of its support for such seminars in the future.
