Dr. V. K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA visited Kotapally Mandal of Mancherial District on 15th March, 2023 and monitored various activities under SC Sub Plan. A team of scientists Dr. T. V. Prasad, Dr. K.S. Reddy, Dr. Amarender Reddy, Dr. K. Sreedevi Shankar and Dr. A.G.K. Reddy also accompanied. Initially, the team has visited store room handed over by the revenue department which can be used for the storage of inputs and office for SCSP. After that, we went to Mallampet village where women trainee farmers felicitated the Director. Then the Director monitored backyard vegetable kitchen garden raised by beneficiaries with the vegetable seed kits distributed under SCSP. The women farmer had systematically diversified the small area behind their house into backyard kitchen garden and they are meeting the household requirement and thereby reducing expenditure on vegetables.

After that, Director has monitored fruit trees grown such as pomegranate, lemon, guava, papaya and banana distributed under SCSP. Then, our team has visited fields where improved variety of green gram (MGG-347) was sown after the harvest of paddy. Afterwards, they have visited farm pond where fish production has taken up last year. Later, the team has visited groundnut field where groundnut variety K-6 was grown. The Director also monitored Custom Hiring Centres (CHCs) established under SCSP. At last, the team visited chilli field where yellow sticky traps were installed for the management of sucking insect pests. With this intervention, the chilli growers could able to save money by reducing the number of pesticide sprayings.
