At the concluding function of the two-month Rural Awareness Work Experience (RAWE) programme, final-year students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) showcased their dedication and innovation through power point presentations and model exhibition. The programme, designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, witnessed active participation of 16 groups, engaged in community-focused initiatives during their village attachment.

The chief guest Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, commended the students for their exemplary participation and commitment to the RAWE course. “Such hands-on-experiences will go a long way in shaping future agricultural leaders,” he observed, while disclosing that the university was all set to work on digital RAWE programme in the upcoming years.

Dr Charanjit Singh Aulakh, Dean, College of Agriculture, underscored the pivotal role of the RAWE programme as a channel for disseminating crucial information from the university to the grassroots level, benefiting both the students and the rural community.

Dr Kuldeep Singh, Head, Department of Extension Education, acknowledged the outstanding efforts of the students in contributing to the welfare of the rural areas. The students’ academic journey will foster a sense of responsibility towards rural development within the agricultural community, he added.

Later, Dr Gosal along with other dignitaries rewarded the deserving groups, nurturing a spirit of healthy competition and motivation among the students.

Dr Tejinder Singh Riar, Additional Director of Communication, while proposing a vote of thanks, emphasized on making collaborative efforts for the success of the RAWE programme.

A drug addiction awareness skit, and lively giddha and bhangra performances by students showcased a commitment to holistic community development.
