Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur, in collaboration with the Department of Microbiology, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, organized an awareness camp on the importance of organic fertilizers at village Rampur Sainia, block Mahilpur on November 10, 2023.
At the beginning of the camp Dr. Maninder Singh Bounce, Associate Director, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur formally welcomed the farmers/farmer wives. He also enlightened about the services of Krishi Vigyan Kendra to Kirsani and explained about the purpose of this camp. Dr. Bounce informed that the Department of Microbiology, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana has selected Rampur Sainia village for extension activities on the use of organic fertilizers and training activities on mushroom production and vinegar making. And emphasized on adopting the recommendations. Dr. Bounce also said that inoculating seeds with organisms increases yield and increases soil fertility. These injections of organic fertilizers are given at gate no. of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. 1 are available from seed shops and horticultural science centers/farm advisory centers in different districts.
Dr. Keshani, Extension Scientist (Microbiology), Department of Microbiology, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, shared information about the use of organic fertilizers in wheat in detail. Mix 500 grams of Consortium organic fertilizer in one liter of water and mix well with each acre of wheat seed. After that, spread the modified seeds on the firm floor and dry them in the shade and sow them quickly. Dr. Keshani also gave important information about the use of ‘water testing kit’ and vinegar to know the purity of drinking water.
On this occasion, Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, Plant Protection Expert of Krishi Science Center, gave technical information about comprehensive pest management of rabi crops and wheat seed modification.
At the end of the camp, farmers and farmer wives were also provided with organic fertilizer injection for wheat and potato, grape vinegar and water testing kit.
