The Department of Agronomy, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized the 18th Parthenium awareness week under the aegis of ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur. During the week-long programme, lectures on Parthenium were delivered, highlighting its harmful effects on human and animal health and its management. A drive to uproot new flushes of plants of Parthenium at PAU campus was continued throughout the week by the graduate and postgraduate students. Students along with field staff uprooted Parthenium plants growing at different places inside the university campus. The fresh flushes of Parthenium plants at village Mansuran (district Ludhaina) was uprooted with the help of villagers. This village is the first Parthenium free village since 2016 and it has been maintained by villagers with collaboration of All India Coordinated Research Project weed management staff from PAU. This village is regularly monitored and new plants of Parthenium are uprooted in time.
