The ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar conducted a workshop on Blended Learning Platform (BLP) on 15th September, 2023 in collaboration with ICARIASRI. The students and faculty of ICAR-IVRI along with scientist from regional stations and other universities also participated in the event.


The inaugural session was graced by Dr. Triveni Dutt, Director, ICAR- IVRI; Dr Sudeep Marwah, Head (CA), ICAR-IASRI; Dr Anuradha Agrawal, National coordinator, CAASTNAHEP; Dr. S.K. Mendiratta, Joint Director (Academic); Dr S K Singh, Joint Director
(Research); Dr. Rupasi Tiwari, Joint Director (Extension Education); and Heads of various Divisions, faculty, and students. The joint directors and faculty of regional campuses (Bengaluru, Mukteswar, Palampur, Pune and Kolkata) have participated in online mode. A total of 448 faculties and students enrolled for the event.


Dr Triveni Dutt, Director, IVRI appreciated the efforts of team IASRI and extended a great thank to Dr Sudeep Marwah for his sincere efforts in developing various ICT tools for IVRI during a long 10 years collaboration. He thanked to Dr RC Agrawal, DDG, Agricultural Education, ICAR, for his visionary leadership in the field of ICT tools development. He said that enhancing digital network is important to meet the guidelines of National Education Policy 2020 as well as nation’s expectation. He urged the faculty to revisit our targets and suggested to adopt blended learning module and urged faculties and students to capitalize on the platform to improve learning outcomes.


Dr SK Mendiratta, Joint Director (Academic), signified the adoption of digital initiatives by the universities as need of the hour. He said that IVRI has established its two academic hubs at Bangalore and Hyderabad whose various activities like management of major, minor or supporting courses will be taken care by the blended learning ecosystem. He also emphasized that to become as a developed nation in coming year we need to change our education system as per the demand and need of the time. Dr Sudeep Marwah, Head (CA), ICAR-IASRI initiated the program and said that the decision for to launch a blended-learning ecosystem was taken at international conference held in New Delhi in March, 2023. He explained that the existing online platform in India do not offer agriculture courses and added that “our subjects are exclusive and ICAR-IVRI is also part of it.” He narrated the importance, need and development of online and virtual class rooms by the time and how it has been revolutionized post-pandemic period. He also discussed and make aware all the participants about the different digital initiatives developed by the team IASRI which helps better than the traditional teaching in effective knowledge transfer, capacity building, academic management, monitoring the progress of virtual class room and performance of the students. He also assured that these platforms will be leverage in implementing academic bank credits as per National Education Policy 2020 enables seamless credit transfer across courses, institutions & educational program. In the technical session I, the brief introduction of blended learning platform was given by the team ICAR-IASRI which was followed by the demonstration of demonstration of BLP for faculties by team ICAR-IASRI. The technical session II involved demonstration of BLP and other IT initiatives by team ICAR-IASRI for the students as well as faculties. Different doubts of the students and faculties regarding the BLP were solved in both the technical sessions. The workshop ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Amit Kumar, PI, CAAST-ACLH,. The event was coordinated by Dr. Akhilesh Kumar.
