Three Days Training Programme on “Nursery Structures and Quality Planting Material Production in Horticultural Crops” Organized at CHES, Bhubaneswar

The programme commenced with a technical session highlighting the significance of quality planting material production in horticultural crops. Participants were subsequently sensitized to the layout and design of different nursery structures and quality planting material production through grafting, layering, and other vegetative propagation techniques. Practical, hands-on sessions were conducted on various nursery structures, potting media, and propagation methods. Other technical sessions covered the selection, establishment, and management of mother plant blocks; hardening and acclimatization of nursery plants for field establishment; entrepreneurship in commercial nursery production; quality planting material production in vegetable crops; and plant protection measures in nursery production.

The programme concluded with an interactive feedback session with the scientists, followed by the valedictory programme. Dr. G. C. Acharya, Head, CHES-IIHR, Bhubaneswar, served as the Course Director. The training programme was coordinated by Dr. Tanushree Sahoo, Scientist (Fruit Science). Sri Manoj Kumar Pattnaik, Technical Officer; Sri B. C. Patra, STA; Sri Anil Adamala and Ms. Lopamudra Sahoo, Young Professionals (YPs); and the outsourced personnel extended their support towards the successful completion of the training programme.
