ICAR and SAARC Agriculture Centre Discuss Strengthening Regional Agricultural Cooperation

Dr Md Golam Mahboob, Director, SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC), Dhaka, Bangladesh, met Dr N.P. Singh, Assistant Director General (International Relations), ICAR, today to discuss ongoing collaboration and institutional mechanisms for strengthening agricultural cooperation among SAARC member states.
The discussions focused on germplasm exchange, PhD scholarships and fellowships for agricultural scientists, joint capacity-building programmes, coordinated training calendars and exploring regional funding opportunities, including through the SAARC Development Fund.
The participants also deliberated on preparing an action matrix to guide future cross-country agricultural projects and collaborative initiatives.
The meeting was chaired by Dr N.P. Singh, and attended by Dr Md Golam Mahboob, Director, SAC, along with other senior officials. The interaction reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening institutional partnerships, agricultural research collaboration and knowledge exchange across South Asia.
