ICAR-CTCRI, Thiruvananthapuram Organises Farmers’ Awareness Programme under Khet Bachao Abhiyaan–Rabi 2026

The ICAR–Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram, in collaboration with Krishi Bhavan, Chenkal, organised a farmers’ awareness programme under Khet Bachao Abhiyaan (KBA–Rabi 2026) at Chenkal village in Parassala block, Thiruvananthapuram district, today.
The programme focused on soil health management, balanced fertiliser use, safe food production and improved nutrition. Farmers were sensitised to scientific cultivation practices for enhancing soil fertility and crop productivity, particularly in tuber crops such as cassava and sweet potato.
Information on government schemes, including PM-KISAN, Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), was also shared to familiarise farmers with income support, agricultural credit and crop insurance benefits.
A total of 58 farmers, including 18 men and 40 women, participated in the programme. The initiative aimed to strengthen farmers’ awareness of sustainable agricultural practices and facilitate access to relevant government support schemes.
